Race #46

There were no surprises at Race #2 of the Stroke & Stride Series with Megan Dalton and Brent Foster both recording comfortable victories.  Both Dalton and Foster have been Series Champions three times and each of them has recorded more wins in the history of the Stroke & Stride Series than anyone else on this planet.

Dalton didn’t have it all her own way front the start with Jackie Read and Marisa Pentecost keeping pace with her on the swim and Read actually leading her slightly from the water and out onto the 4 km run and she then had to contend with Suzanne Clark’s typical hard charging run from behind trying to make up a 70 second deficit.  But at the finish Dalton had a 27 second buffer over Clark in second place with Pentecost in third and the young Nicola De Lautour also running well to take fourth ahead of Read in fifth place.

Brent Foster had John Munro for company on the 750 metre swim but was out on his own early into the run and ended up winning the race by more than a minute.  Chris Andrews was 90 seconds off the pace out of the water but ran strongly to move through the field to take second place.  Close behind was our newly crowned junior World Champion triathlete, Nathan Richmond, followed by Malcolm McGregor and Steven Mouldey.  lt sends shivers up some of the older athletes’ spines to think that Richmond and Mouldey are aged just I6 and 15 years of age respectively.
