Race #38

Last season’s Series Champions Marisa Pentecost and Brent Foster were again too good for the competition in Race #2 of the NutraSport Stroke & Stride Series.

The race was held in near perfect conditions with only a slight onshore breeze creating a small chop for the swim leg.

Marisa Pentecost lead Louise Soper and Megan Dalton from the water after the 750 metre swim and then was never challenged over the 4 kilometre run finishing eight seconds ahead of Megan Dalton. Heidi Alexander moved up to take third and Louise Soper held on for fourth place ahead of Anne Buckley and Leanne Johnson who staged a tremendous sprint finish down the beach to dead heat for fifth.

Race # 2 also went exactly to plan for Brent Foster as he once again swam away from the field which included a number of New Zealand representative swimmers and then continued to show good speed on the run leg to win by an impressive 54 seconds. Malcolm McGregor was second from the water but faded to fifth place on the run as he was passed by the fleet footed Rodney Gordon, Mark Hutchinson and Darragh Walshe who took second, third and fourth respectively.
